Workers accused of stealing dozens of Apple watches from Amazon warehouse

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Amazon says several of its employees worked together to steal dozens of Apple Watches from the distribution center on Holmes Road right before the Holiday Season.

Horatio Key, 19, was booked in the Shelby County Jail Tuesday. Andrico Woods, 19, was arrested in March. Both are charged with theft of property of up to $60,000.

A loss prevention officer said in November, they received a tip about the location of numerous empty Apple watch boxes and discovered 36 watches were missing from inventory.

Security officers said they reviewed surveillance video of the last location of the watches and saw Key, Woods, and two others unboxing the Apple Watches and hiding them in their clothing.

Each watch is valued at around $399, bringing the total loss to $14,364.

While the affidavit of complaint mentions four defendants, Key and Woods are the only ones facing charges.

Key is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday. Woods will be back in court next week.
