Amazon shares drop; Chevron posts earnings beat; Facebook tests new in-app camera

Facebook (FB) – The social media giant has started testing its new in-app camera features in Ireland. The app includes geofilters and selfie masks that are similar to Snapchat’s features. Facebook is expected to test more variations of the app before rolling it out worldwide.

Exxon (XOM) – The oil giant is under pressure as earnings fall for the eighth quarter in a row. Exxon reported earnings per share of 63 cents on revenue of $58.68 billion.

Chevron (CVX) – The company reported better-than-expected third-quarter results, posting earnings per share of 68 cents on revenue of $30.14 billion. Chevron’s profit is down 35% from one year ago.

Amazon (AMZN) – The online retail giant reported a big miss on earnings Thursday after the bell, posting earnings per share of 52 cents on revenue of $32.7 billion. Amazon’s fourth quarter guidance was lower than expected. The retailer expects revenue in the range of $42 billion to $45.5 billion during the holiday quarter, missing analysts’ expectations of $42.18 billion to $46.27 billion.

UBS (UBS) – The Swiss bank reported a 60% plunge in third-quarter net profit from one year ago, as macroeconomic and geopolitical challenges weighed on results. UBS also increase its reserves for penalties related to misselling mortgage-backed securities by more than $400 million following news last month that the US Justice Department asked Deutsche Bank to pay $14 billion.
