Amarillo police: 2 critically injured in motorcycle crash on Bell

Two people were critically injured in another motorcycle accident that took place Thursday night.

At about 8:42 p.m. Thursday, May 2, Amarillo officers went to the scene of a major crash, involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle, at Bell Street and Erik Avenue, according to the Amarillo Police Department (APD). Officers found out that a Kawasaki motorcycle was heading north on Bell, driven by a 23-year-old man, with a 22-year-old female passenger. APD said a Mustang, being driven by a 17-year-old, had been heading north on Bell Street east frontage road and was making a westbound turn into a private parking lot at 2200 Bell.

The motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the Mustang, causing both motorcycle riders to be ejected, according to APD. Both motorcycle riders suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to an area hospital. Their current condition was unknown.

The incident is being investigated by APD's Traffic Investigation Squad.
