Amarillo College presidential applications being accepted through March 8

The Amarillo College (AC) Board of Regents announced a progression in the presidential search, as discussed in their Monday evening board meeting.

The community college is in search of a new president to serve the college, following the departure of former president Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart with his acceptance to serve as the Chancellor for Austin Community College District, which was announced in August.

Currently, Denese Skinner is AC's interim president while the college employs the assistance of a executive search firm, Gold Hill Associates, to collect applications and the initial screenings for each individual.

As announced during AC's board meeting, the firm has received several applications, but it has not shared any further information with the board. Applications for the presidential position are still being accepted through March 8.

Following the closure of acceptance of applications, the firm will host an initial screening for individuals then present the Amarillo College Screening Committee, comprised of members of the colleges board and staff, with approximately 15 candidates that meet the college's ideals. The committee will then host interviews and determine the final three presidential candidates, which they then will present to the board. The AC board will then host final interviews and determine the finalist.

Throughout the process, Amarillo College has stated that no applicants will be announced until the final three have been determined. At that time, those names will be released to the public.

As per the contract with the firm, the college is expected to have or be in the process of finalizing the contract with the incoming president by July 15.
