Amandla Stenberg Wants Quentin Tarantino to Make ‘Kill Bill Vol. 3’ Because Her Dream Role Is Vernita Green’s Daughter

Quentin Tarantino has flirted with the idea of continuing the “Kill Bill” franchise, the possibility of which is very exciting for Amandla Stenberg. The 19-year-old actress, currently on the big screen in “The Darkest Minds,” revealed to CinePop that she’s hoping Tarantino makes good on his promise for more “Kill Bill” since her dream role is to play Nikki, the daughter of Vivica A. Fox’s Vernita Green.

“Kill Bill Vol. 1” begins with Vernita’s murder at the hands of Uma Thurman’s Beatrix Kiddo, aka. The Bride. Tarantino stages a bloody fight between the two characters that gets disrupted by the arrival of Nikki coming home from school. After The Bride finally kills Vernita, the frame reveals Nikki standing in the doorway watching her mother’s murder.

“The ultimate character I’d love to play is Vivica A. Fox’s daughter in ‘Kill Bill,'” Stenberg replied when asked about her dream role. “There have been rumors about a potential ‘Kill Bill Vol. 3’ and that would just be amazing. It’s my favorite movie. It would be so cool. The Bride tells Vernita’s daughter after she kills [her mother], ‘If you’re salty about this in 10 years, come find me and we’ll work it out.'”

Tarantino has fueled the rumors of “Kill Bill Vol. 3” himself, telling Entertainment Weekly back in 2004 that he envisioned “Kill Bill” as his own “Dollars Trilogy.” Tarantino even knew the direction he wanted the narrative to go in at the time, and it involved Nikki in a main role.

“I need at least fifteen years before I do this again,” Tarantino said. “I’ve already got the whole mythology: Sofie Fatale will get all of Bill’s money. She’ll raise Nikki, who’ll take on The Bride. Nikki deserves her revenge every bit as much as The Bride deserved hers. I might even shoot a couple of scenes for it now so I can get the actresses while they’re this age.”

Fortunately for fans of “Kill Bill,” 2019 marks the fifteen year mark and could bring about news of “Vol. 3.” Tarantino is currently filming his ninth feature “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” which Sony will release in theaters July 26, 2019. The director has said for years he plans to retire after making his tenth movie, which means there is only one more feature left for Tarantino after “Hollywood.” Will the filmmaker go out with “Kill Bill Vol. 3”? We’ll have to wait and see, and no doubt Amandla Stenberg will be waiting with open ears.

Following the release of “The Darkest Minds,” Stenberg is set to lead 20th Century Fox’s “The Hate U Give.” The movie is playing at the Toronto International Film Festival along with another Stenberg drama, the Amma Assante-directed “When Hands Touch.”
