Amanda Cunningham appears in court

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Amanda Cunningham appeared in a Mesa County Courtroom pleading guilty to charges stemming from a robbery gone wrong back in June 2022.

Cunningham was one of five people involved in the robbery gone wrong that resulted in the death of 31-year-old Buddy Cates.

Cameras captured all five suspects as they surprised Cates in his room at the Days Inn Motel on Horizon Drive.

During the investigation, police discovered fentanyl pills on the scene.

Cunningham pled guilty to charges of menacing with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Cunningham’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for June. WesternSlopeNow will provide updates as they happen.
