Altavista man dies in crash on Glayds Road in Campbell County

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police are investigating a crash that resulted in the death of a 64-year-old man in Campbell County on Wednesday morning.

State police said the crash occurred on Glayds Road just before 1 am. on March 6. Investigators confirmed Michael L. Hudgins, 64, of Altavista, was driving a Ford Ranger west when he allegedly ran off the right side of the road.

According to VSP, Hudgins overcorrected and ran off the road again. The Ford then hit an embankment and a tree.

Hudgins was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police confirmed he was wearing his seatbelt.
