Alouettes sign CIS record-breaking place kicker Wiliam Dion for 3 years

MONTREAL - Placekicker William Dion of the University of Sherbrooke Vert et Or has signed a three-year contract with the Montreal Alouettes.

The five-foot-nine Dion set a Canadian Interuniversity Sport record for career field goals with 82 over five seasons. He was good on 16 of 24 field goal attempts last season.

Dion, who was also the team's punter, finished up fourth in all-time CIS scoring with 374 points.

"We have been impressed with William as he has continued to raise his level to one that is deserving of a chance to compete in a CFL training camp," Alouettes general manager Jim Popp said Wednesday in a statement.
