Allison Mack Tried to Recruit One Very Famous Actress into Nxivm
Allison Mack, the Smallville actress who was arrested last week in connection to Keith Raniere Nxivm, which has been referred to in recent reports as a cult, tried to recruit at least two big-name celebrities into the group in decidedly one-sided Twitter exchanges. Per People, Mack was particularly interested in getting Emma Watson on board as a member of Nxivm, which posed as a self-help group.
In January 2016, Mack tweeted to Watson, who is known for her work as a women’s and gender-rights activist, about getting involved in what she later called, in a February 2016 tweet to Watson, “a unique human development & women’s movement.”
Though Watson did not reply, Mack attempted to contact her again in March of 2016. Again, no reply. Mack had attempted to contact another top-tier star years earlier. In 2013, she tweeted at Smallville fan Kelly Clarkson, but Clarkson did not respond.
Now, fans who have caught on to the tweet are retroactively warning the singer not to reply.
After pleading not guilty on Friday, Mack filed for an order of excludable delay, asking that her trial not take place until after May 3. She is charged with sex trafficking, sex-trafficking conspiracy, and forced-labor conspiracy.
