Allegiant Airlines, 1,700 flight attendants reach tentative agreement on 25% raise

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The union for 1,700 Allegiant Airlines flight attendants said Thursday a tentative agreement has been reached on a five-year contract that would increase pay by an average of 25%.

Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 577 said flight attendants at the top of the scale would get a 41.2% raise when the contract is ratified.

Allegiant’s headquarters are in Las Vegas. It is the seventh-largest domestic carrier at Reid International Airport. The airline is described in the industry as an ultra-low cost airline. It focuses on discounted leisure travel.

“The tentative agreement reached after more than a year and a half of negotiations provides Allegiant Flight Attendants with essential raises and quality-of-life benefits that extend to members across the country,” TWU International Executive Vice President Alex Garcia said.

A TWU news release said other wage enhancements including premium pay pays are part of the agreement.

The tentative agreement also provides improvements to duty rig, or pay credits based on the amount of time a Flight Attendant spends on duty. The agreement contains an improved 401k match and health insurance benefits. Flight Attendants would receive annual pay increases of 3% throughout the life of the contract, TWU said.

Flight Attendants would receive a minimum $1,500 lump sum bonus upon ratification or at least a $1,013 bonus per year of service, whichever is greater. The average estimated lump sum bonus per Flight Attendant would be slightly over $6,000 upon ratification, TWU said.
