A Black man was just sentenced to centuries in prison for the murder of two people in Delaware. The harsh punishment was probably due to the fact the police suspected he killed way more than just two people, qualifying him to be a serial killer.

Delaware police say 41-year-old Keith Gibson murdered Leslie Ruiz-Basilio during a robbery at a Metro by T-Mobile store in Elsmere, Del. in May of 2021. A month after this killing, he murdered Ronald Wright during a street robbery. The police caught him days later, sticking up a Rite-Aid wearing a bulletproof vest. Delaware police took him in but as Gibson’s name went through the grapevine, Pennsylvania police connected him to a slew of crimes that occurred in Philadelphia around the time the two victims were killed.

Philadelphia law enforcement accused Gibson of four killings between February and June of 2021, one of those killings being a clerk he shot while she opened the Dunkin’ Donuts for the day and another being his own mother who he is alleged to have killed at her workplace.

Why didn’t the cops catch him before? Well, a WHYY News report says prior to his killing spree, Gibson was on probation after serving 13 years for a manslaughter and weapons charge from 2010.

Last week, a New Castle County jury finally handed in a guilty verdict sealing Gibson’s fate for good.

“Our prosecutors did phenomenal work on a deeply disturbing case,” said Attorney General Jennings. “The defendant carried out a vicious, cold-blooded crime spree, killing two and injuring four people in Delaware, and facing pending charges for yet more violence in Pennsylvania. He was armed and wearing a bulletproof vest when law enforcement arrested him, and it is difficult to fathom how much more destruction he would have caused had he not been apprehended. I’m proud of our prosecutors and of law enforcement who ensured that he will spend the rest of his life in a prison cell. Above all else, we are thinking of his victims, including those whose lives were cut short and whose families are still healing from this man’s crimes.”

Gibson’s convictions are as follows: Four counts of Murder 1st Degree, Attempted Murder 1st Degree, Thirteen counts of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Four counts of Robbery 1st Degree, Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Wearing Body Armor During the Commission of a Felony, Additional charges against Gibson, including several drug charges, are pending in Superior Court.

Trust and believe the new judge presiding over this case wasn’t playing any games about putting and keeping Gibson in prison. He’s been sentenced to seven life terms in prison and an additional 297 years on top. He’s still to be extradited for his charges in Philly.

“I have given you as much as I can. It is not enough,” said Judge Ferris Wharton at the sentencing hearing, per The AP.

Yeah, he ain’t never gettin out.
