Alleged home invader accused of sexually abusing 13-year-old girl

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A mother is accusing a man of coming into her Whitehaven home and sexually abusing her 13-year-old daughter.

Jose Urrego-Paez, 39, is charged with Aggravated Burglary and Sexual Battery.

Sunday, a 13-year-old girl was inside her home in the 4100 block of Faronia Square when Paez reportedly knocked on the door.

When she answered, Paez asked if her father was home. After he was told no, he allegedly forced the door open and came inside.

MPD says the victim was able to take Paez’s phone and call her father. She says the suspect kissed her on the neck, rubbed his hands down her back, and touched her butt and private parts through her pants.

The victim screamed, and the neighbors came into the apartment and made Paez leave.

The mother of the victim came home and called Paez back to the apartment, hoping to hold him until the police came. However, he fled the scene before they arrived.

Monday, Paez was identified. He told officers he went inside the home but denied assaulting the victim.
