Alistair Overeem fails drug test, leaving UFC 146 main event up in the air

Heavyweight Alistair Overeem has failed a drug test, throwing his UFC 146 title fight with champion Junior Dos Santos in jeopardy and enraging UFC president Dana White.

The six-foot-five, 265-pound Dutch fighter tested positive for an increased testosterone-epitestosterone level, according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Most people have a ratio of 1-1, although the commission allows for a ratio of 6-1. Commission executive director Keith Kizer said Overeem's test was more than 10-1.

The random test was conducted at a recent news conference for UFC 146, which is scheduled for May 26 in Las Vegas.

Overeem, a former Strikeforce champion with a 36-11-1 record, is currently without a licence to fight and would have to appear before the Nevada commission to get a new one.

White says he is "beyond pissed" about the positive test, saying Overeem had told him personally he was clean.
