ALPHARETTA, Ga. (AP) _ Alimera Sciences Inc. (ALIM) on Wednesday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $977,000, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Alpharetta, Georgia-based company said it had a loss of 18 cents.

The eye drug developer posted revenue of $13.8 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $5.3 million, or $1.04 per share. Revenue was reported as $50.8 million.

Alimera Sciences shares have more than doubled since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $8.99, a climb of 37% in the last 12 months.
