Alignment Rockford announces new executive director

ROCKFORD — Alignment Rockford, a collective impact organization whose mission is to align community resources in support of public school strategies, has named Emily Klonicki its new executive director.

Klonicki has experience with the Rockford Public Library where she worked as the assistant director and head of youth and information services. She's also served as the liaison for the Rockford Public Library's work with Alignment Rockford the past three years.

She will replace Anisha Grimmett, who led the organization for four years.

Klonicki is chair of the Rockford Area Arts Council board of directors and a trustee on the Music Academy in Rockford Foundation board of directors. Klonicki has a master of science in library and information studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Becky Cook Kendall, president of the Alignment Rockford governing board, says the organization is excited to have Klonicki join.

"Her skills, passion and experience in executive leadership will continue to advance the role and impact of Alignment Rockford in our community," Kendall said in a news release.

Klonicki lives in Rockford with two children who are students of the Rockford Public Schools.

"My work with Alignment Rockford over the past three years has given me a great opportunity to learn about and understand the critical ways that Alignment Rockford is serving our students and families in Rockford. I am honored and delighted to be joining the team and moving this important work ahead," Klonicki said in a news release.

Klonicki will start her new position on Monday.
