ALICE lockdown drill planned at Barberton High School Thursday morning

The Barberton Police Department and Barberton City Schools are conducting a simulation training drill using the ALICE lockdown procedure at Barberton High School on Thursday morning.

"The two organizations have been planning this drill for several months and hope to provide realistic training and practice for students, staff and safety forces," the police department said in a statement. "While we believe this will be a significant learning opportunity for our district, we also do not want to alarm residents or people passing by the high school."

ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate.
