An Alexandria man was arrested after a late Sunday shooting left one man dead, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. near Tuma Drive off Old Boyce Road, an area bordered by La. Highway 1 and Interstate 49. Two people were wounded and taken to a hospital.

On Monday afternoon, the sheriff's office said one of those victims, 32-year-old Christopher Earl Chisem, had died.

Detectives got a search warrant after finding the car of a man identified as a suspect, 33-year-old Arthur Jamal Wallace, at a Gary Street home in Alexandria. But Wallace wasn't found there, according to a news release.

Wallace turned himself in at the Rapides Parish Courthouse around 10:40 a.m., and detectives got arrest warrants for him. He was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center #1 on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

He remains in jail on a $1.5 million bail, according to the release.
