Who is Alejandro Najar? A Barberton chef who will compete on 'Hell's Kitchen'

Barberton native Alejandro (Alex) Najar will compete in season 21 of Hell's Kitchen, dubbed "Battle of the Ages."

When not on national TV, Najar works as the head chef at UnHitched Brewing Company in Louisville. He was also previously the head chef at Wolf Creek Tavern in Norton and a sous chef at a Mustard Seed Market & Café.

For those not familiar with the reality competition cooking show, here's a quick summary: World renowned chef Gordon Ramsay puts aspiring young chefs through rigorous cooking challenges and dinner services at his Las Vegas restaurant, named Hell's Kitchen, to determine which one of them will win the head chef position at one of his restaurants or a restaurant located worldwide.

This latest season of the show will be the first time contestants have been divided up by age, with 20-somethings (team red) battling 40-somethings (team blue) in the kitchen. Nonetheless, the program will still be comprised of executive chefs, sous chefs, line cooks and head chefs competing to impress host and judge Ramsay.

How to watch

The first episode of season 21 is set to premiere Thursday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. on FOX.
