Alec Baldwin Defends Woody Allen Against Sexual Assault Accusations
Alec Baldwin has come forward on social media in defense of embattled filmmaker Woody Allen, who continues to face accusations of sexual assault from his adoptive daughter Dylan Farrow.
“Is it possible to support survivors of pedophilia and sexual assault/abuse and also believe that WA is innocent?,” wrote Baldwin on Tuesday. “I think so. The intention is not to dismiss or ignore such complaints. But accusing ppl of such crimes should be treated carefully. On behalf of the victims, as well,” added the actor in his tweet.

Baldwin, who appeared in Allen’s films “Blue Jasmine” (2013), “To Rome with Love” (2012) and “Alice” (1990), added, “Woody Allen was investigated forensically by two states (NY and CT) and no charges were filed. The renunciation of him and his work, no doubt, has some purpose. But it’s unfair and sad to me. I worked w WA 3 times and it was one of the privileges of my career.”

Allen was investigated in 1992 for the alleged abuse of Farrow but was never charged. Allen has denied the accusations as an invention of Farrow’s mother, actress Mia Farrow, but they were brought back to the public’s attention when Farrow detailed her experience in an open letter in the New York Times in 2014.
Last month, she published a new op-ed in the Los Angeles Times, in which she called out Kate Winslet Blake Lively, and Greta Gerwig for working with Allen amidst the accusations. Gerwig has since said she regrets having worked with the Oscar-winning film auteur.
