ALDOT proposes additional passing lanes on US-431 in East Alabama
CHAMBERS COUNTY, Ala. (WRBL) – The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has announced plans to enhance safety and traffic flow on US-431 by adding three truck climbing lanes near the towns of Roanoke and LaFayette in Chambers County, Alabama.
The project, open for public review and comment, will see the addition of dedicated truck passing lanes at locations along US-431. These lanes will enable drivers to safely maneuver around slower-moving vehicles, particularly trucks, reducing congestion and enhancing travel efficiency.
One of the proposed truck passing lanes will be situated north of LaFayette, between CR-167 and CR-226, in the northbound direction. Additional lanes are slated for construction south of Roanoke, with one in each direction between CR-246/CR-278 and CR-253.
The project does not require the acquisition of additional right-of-way, streamlining implementation and minimizing disruptions to nearby properties.
