ALDOT: Nighttime detours to take place on I-565 near Town Madison

MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is warning drivers of planned detours on Interstate 65 near Town Madison.

The department said due to continued work on the Town Madison Interchange on I-565, it will be doing nighttime detours over the next two or three months to set up bridge girders over the interstate.

ALDOT will be periodically closing one direction of I-565 at a time, eastbound and westbound, during the work.

Weather permitting, the department said the westbound lanes from Exit 13 to Exit 9 will be closed between 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. nightly from Sunday, April 28 to Thursday, May 2.

Traffic will be detoured down Madison Boulevard from Exit 13 to Wall Triana Highway and then back to the interstate at Exit 9.

ALDOT said the eastbound detour, which is planned for a later date, will be from Wall Triana Highway at Exit 9 to Madison Boulevard to Exit 13. The department said all the detours will be limited to late night and early morning hours to minimize travel impacts.
