On March 29, the day before the officer-involved shooting, police say 19-year-old Alijah Archuleta was involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend. Archuleta allegedly refused to let his girlfriend out of the car and go into a residence on the 700 block of 59th St., between Fortuna Rd. and Glenorio Rd. Eventually she was able to leave the vehicle and enter the residence. Police say Archuleta then discharged a firearm, drove around the neighborhood and fired another shot. When officers arrived on scene Archuleta ran and got into the passenger seat of a car and fled. Two officers fired their weapons during this time.
