Albuquerque man pleads guilty to pointing gun at woman during first date

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man admitted on Thursday to pulling a gun on a woman and a bystander during their first date. Erick Lozano pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in court.

Police responded to the area of Menaul and San Mateo in August for reports of a man forcing a woman to the ground at gunpoint. According to the criminal complaint, Lozano pulled into a parking lot, where the woman hopped out of his car and hid behind a parked car. Lozano left, and the woman got in a bystander’s car. When Lozano returned, he pointed the gun at her and made her get out of the bystander’s vehicle.

Lozano then put the barrel of an assault-style rifle in her mouth while the woman was out of the car. He also reportedly pointed the gun at the bystander, court documents stated. Once the woman was back in Lozano’s car, the two left the scene.

Lozano later returned to the scene, called police, and told them the woman had stolen his phone and money, according to court documents. Lozano was arrested and now faces up to 18 months in prison.
