Albert Almora Jr. robs Tyler Flowers of extra-base hit with remarkable, unlikely catch
Sorry, Tyler Flowers.
This is Albert Almora Jr.’s highlight. For a moment, it looked like yours, but Almora robbed you of that honor. Such is baseball.
Flowers, the catcher for the Atlanta Braves, absolutely smoked that Tyler Chatwood pitch in the second inning of Wednesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs. The line drive to center field was destined for extra bases, and maybe even a home run until Almora leapt at the wall to add another catch to his Gold Glove-candidate highlight reel.
MLB.com’s Joe Posnanski looked to the analytics to show just how remarkable and valuable a catch like that is.
Tyler Flowers' 106-mph exit velocity shot to centerfield had a 95% hit probability. Albert Almora made one of those crazy, wonderful catches that will be the only thing most people at this game will remember.

It’s not the first time Almora has made the highlight reels with a potentially run-saving catch.
A Gold Glove kind of catch by Albert Almora. Wow.

It probably won’t be the last.
