New Albany police investigating fatal Sunday shooting

Apr. 19—NEW ALBANY — Police are investigating a shooting Sunday night in New Albany in which one person was killed and one person remains hospitalized.

A news release said emergency responders went to the 300 block of Erni Avenue around 9 p.m. on a report of a shooting.

First responders located a man, later identified as John Anthony Robertson, 42, who had at least one gunshot wound, and a woman, whose name has not been released, with injuries related to gunfire.

Both were taken to the hospital. Police later said Robertson died and the woman remains hospitalized in stable condition.

New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey said in the news release that it is too early to speculate what may have led to the shooting.
