Alabama is looking for another new offensive coordinator.

The rapid turnover at offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide continued Sunday afternoon when the Buffalo Bills announced Brian Daboll would be the team’s new offensive coordinator. Daboll spent one season in Tuscaloosa after coming over from the New England Patriots.

His departure means the defending national champions are looking for two new coordinators as well. Defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt is now Tennessee’s head coach.

Daboll’s offense clicked in the second half of Alabama’s win over Georgia on Monday night with Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback. Tagovailoa, who replaced Jalen Hurts, threw for three touchdown passes including a game-winning 41-yard score to DeVonta Smith in overtime for a 26-23 win.

“Brian did a tremendous job for us this past season at Alabama, and I know he will do a great job for the Buffalo Bills,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said in a statement. “He is an outstanding coach and coordinator who put us in position to be successful each week. We appreciate all that he did in terms of his time and his dedication in contributing to the success we had this season. We wish Brian, his wife Beth, and their entire family all the best.”

Daboll came to Alabama to replace Steve Sarkisian after Sarkisian was hired by the Atlanta Falcons as their offensive coordinator. Sarkisian was Alabama’s offensive coordinator for just one game — the National Championship Game against Clemson in January 2017. He was elevated from his analyst position after Lane Kiffin left following the Peach Bowl to solely focus on his duties as Florida Atlantic’s head coach. Kiffin was trying to balance both jobs as Alabama was in the playoff.

Alabama’s new offensive coordinator will be the team’s fourth in 17 games when he coaches in the Tide’s Week 1 game in 2018.

Alabama’s run at the top of college football is remarkable and even more so when you consider the coordinator turnover. Pruitt was the Tide’s defensive coordinator for just two seasons. He took the job after Kirby Smart became the head coach at Georgia.
