Alabama man sentenced to over 10 years in prison for patronizing commercial act with minor

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WRBL) – The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Alabama said a 45-year-old man from Montgomery was sentenced to over 10 years in prison after admitting to engaging in sexual acts on a drugged minor.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 45-year-old Jamecko Rontae Thomas received a 130-month long prison sentence after he ped guilty to sex trafficking of a minor.

During his sentencing hearing on Monday, the judge also ordered Thomas to serve five years of supervised release after completing his prison term.

Based on Thomas’ plea agreement and other court documents, in July 2021, Thomas went to a hotel in Montgomery to participate in a commercial sex act with a female under the age of 18 at the time.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says that when Thomas pled guilty he admitted that the sex act happened without regard to the female’s age. He also confessed to knowing about past incidents of commercial sex acts arranged by a codefendant and that he knew drugs were used to induce the victims.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Montgomery Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery Police Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys J. Patrick Lamb and Tara Ratz are prosecuting the case.
