Alabama football has added more scary speed to its offense via the NCAA transfer portal.

Tyler Harrell, a former Louisville receiver, will transfer to join the Crimson Tide, he announced on Twitter on Friday.

He caught 18 passes for 523 yards and six touchdowns over 13 games during the 2021 season.

That's efficient, yet not significant, production, but it's still more than Jameson Williams had before he transferred to Alabama from Ohio State. Williams caught only nine passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns in 2020 as part of a deep Buckeyes receiver group.

One thing they both have in common: Elite speed.

Harrell was clocked at 4.24 in the 40-yard dash at a Louisville pro day in 2021.

Williams didn't have a chance to run a 40-yard dash this offseason before the 2022 NFL Draft, but it's clear he would have shined based on his speed shown on the field. He finished 2021 with 79 receptions for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Alabama certainly wouldn't mind if Harrell had a similar first season.

He's the fifth player whom Alabama has added via the portal this offseason. The Crimson Tide also gained Georgia transfer Jermaine Burton at the receiver spot as well as tackle Tyler Steen (Vanderbilt), cornerback Eli Ricks (LSU) and running back Jahmyr Gibbs (Georgia Tech).

Alabama has the task of replacing three starters at receiver in Williams, John Metchie III and slot receiver Slade Bolden. All three declared for the 2022 NFL Draft.
