Al Franken: 'I've known for weeks that Trump is a terrible president'

Senator Al Franken didn’t need recent events to help him come to the conclusion that President Trump isn’t well-suited for the White House.

Months after canceling a scheduled appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher after the host used a racial slur, the politician from Minnesota joined the program on Friday. Maher began by asking Franken’s thoughts on Republicans such as Senator Bob Corker finally speaking out against Trump.

“What took them so long?” he replied. “I’ve known for weeks that Trump is a terrible president.”

When asked by the host if this will be a turning point, Franken laughed, before responding, “The problem with this administration is Trump, and it’s going to continue. We’ve heard this before.”

Franken called this an “unbelievably horrible” and “sickening” week in the wake of the deadly protests in Charlottesville, which were followed by Trump condemning white nationalists, only to change course the next day and blame “both sides.”

The Saturday Night Live alum’s final verdict: “I don’t think he changes.”
