Airport parking should be for all El Pasoans, build veterans their own lot: Letters to the Editor

Airport parking lot should be for all El Pasoans

Trips to the airport to welcome or say farewell to family and guests average 12 a year. Not all El Pasoans are veterans. There are three generations of war veterans in my family. One should not have to drive around for five to 10 minutes looking for parking in a totally full lot. By the time you arrive inside it is too late to see people off, too late to stop for a quick drink or snack at any business downstairs. No wonder they all shut down.

The airport is usually empty except for one or two departing flights. The cars are obviously people leaving their vehicles while on trips. This is wrong. Veterans or not. The airport parking lot should be for all El Pasoans. It is poor planning and a little bizarre that this occurs.

Build veterans a separate lot where they can have their discounts and allow the other citizens of El Paso access to their airport parking for arrivals and departures.Maria Rodriguez

Damaged mural to be repaired

I will be repairing the damage to Mario Colín's mural in the Ysleta area. This has been an ongoing thing with his images of our Lady of Guadalupe. However, since his passing, I've been self-obligated to care for the murals that we created. He never considered the image so much as a sign of religion, but to show love for our mothers.

I was his art comrade and I'm sure he'd do the same for me.

City of Rocks beautiful, inspirational

The City of Rocks, a state park located 33 miles from Silver City, is a well-hidden, beautiful, and inspirational piece of nature. Tourists visit this park for its hiking trails and events that take place in the park and surrounding area. For thousands of years, this park was native land that Conquistadores from Spain and Mexico traveled in search of the city of gold. The city of rocks was one of their many unique geological findings and it is believed that one of these rocks has a special mark from the Conquistadores.People from around the state visit for its historic background, but they do not just visit, they spend the night beside the geological wonders within the park. The park provides the necessities like water, gas, and electricity.Events such as wildlife watching, boating, and a diverse camping community attract visitors from around the country. This park is not well known, but it is important to the state of New Mexico. The natural formation of the rocks is believed to be done by some unknown entity, creating a spiritual connection between the park and its residents. The park is home to various native species of animals unique to the region, prompting the need for conservation.

This park is important in several ways and should be protected.
