AirPods help NOPD track stolen Audi but no arrest yet

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is trying to find the thief who stole an Audi from the Navarre neighborhood. The case is the latest one to roll on the Wheel of Justice.

According to police, the owner of a white Audi parked the car in the 800 block of Florida Boulevard on the evening of Thursday, April 25. The next morning, she discovered the car was stolen. Inside the car, according to police, the woman also left her purse with credit cards and her AirPods.

The stolen AirPods may have provided a big break in the case. Police say the woman was able to use them to track her stolen car to a convenience store in the 7200 block of Hayne Boulevard. Police followed up on the information and were able to obtain security camera footage that they say shows the car and the suspected thief, carrying a rifle.

Police did not say if they were able to use the AirPods to track the car to any other locations, and they’ve announced no arrests in the case.
