Airline offers ‘exclusive nonstop service’ from Destin to Connecticut

DESTIN, Fla. (WKRG) — Travelers will soon have an “exclusive nonstop service” as the first and only airline begins to offer non-stop service between Florida’s Emerald Coast and Connecticut.

Avelo Airlines is taking off today in a “special inaugural flight,” that marks the beginning of nonstop service between Florida Panhandle’s Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport and Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport.

Following the first flight, the airline says it will offer the new service twice per week (on Thursdays and Sundays using Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft).

Through the new service, officials with Avelo Airlines and Okaloosa County say it will make travel easier and allow people to explore new areas.

“Getting to Southern Connecticut and everything the greater New England and New York regions have to offer will now be easier than ever,” said Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy. “This exclusive nonstop service will also make discovering Florida’s majestic Emerald Coast a fast and seamless journey for Connecticut visitors.”

Okaloosa County Commission Chairman Paul Minxon added, “Welcome Avelo and visitors from
the New York metro area to one of the top beach destinations in the country! Our communities
are equally excited to have the quick, nonstop, low-cost option to Greater New Haven.”
