Aiken man arrested in connection to October 2023 murder

AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) – A man has been arrested in connection to the murder of 46-year-old Kenneth Jones.

The incident happened on October 31st, 2023.

According to the Aiken Department of Public Safety, Jemaurea Deonte Johnson was arrested, and the arrest warrant states that Johnson did commit the offense of Murder after shooting Jones with a fire arm several times with malice aforethought.

According to ADPS, officers responded to a shooting near the intersection of Sumter Street and Sundy Avenue, and officers state that they located a black male, who was identified as Jones, lying beside the roadway.

Authorities say that Jones was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

ADPS says that this investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected to follow.
