Aid to Ukraine needs to be accelerated – Zelenskyy

Not all of Ukraine's partners are promptly delivering promised weapons, it is necessary to speed up such deliveries, stated Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a press conference with Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová, President's Telegram reported on May 10.

Zelenskyy said that he discussed the situation on frontline with his Slovak counterpart, in particular, attempt of Russians to expand offensive in the east, in Donetsk and Kharkiv oblasts.

During negotiations, leaders also discussed Ukrainian need for weapons to disrupt Russian plans.

“Not all of our partners are fulfilling agreements promptly," Zelenskyy said.

"We need maximum concentration of our friends, friends of Ukraine, to speed up the supply."

President added that Ukraine is grateful to every leader who helps speed up the transfer of weapons.

Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová arrived in Kyiv for a visit on May 10.

EU foreign ministers agreed on a plan for joint procurement and supply of 1 million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine worth €2 billion on March 20, 2023. It provided allocation of 1 billion euros to compensate for supplies to member states, another 1 billion euros for joint purchases of ammunition, and an increase in production capacity in EU.

After a year, EU countries managed to provide less than half of promised amount of ammunition.
