Aggravated assault suspect wanted in shooting of 6-year-old in south Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A six year old was shot in south Columbus last week. Now, the Columbus Police Department has issued a warrant for the arrest of an aggravated assault suspect.

Robert Walker, 20, is wanted on four counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Columbus police say Walker is armed and dangerous.

The warrants stem back to Wednesday, May 1 at about 12:30 a.m. when Cameron Thomas, 6, was shot in the driveway of a south Columbus home while he was playing with his toy truck.

One arrest has been made in the case so far — Makaliah Briscoe, 22.

Additionally, Zytavius Short, 16, turned himself into the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office on Monday. Short is facing four counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He has been brought back to Columbus where he will have a hearing on Tuesday.
