Aggravated assault suspect taken into custody by local law enforcement

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A man wanted on multiple charges, including three counts of aggravated assault, was taken into custody on Wednesday.

The Columbus Police Department confirmed Zauvon Chappell was arrested on warrants from both the Columbus Police Department and the Phenix City Police Department.

Chappell was charged with the following:

Aggravated Assault x3
Theft by Taking
Possession of a Firearm during the Commission x2
Failure to Appear (Alabama — police say robbery was the original charge)

Federal safety regulators have opened an investigation into Ford's hands-free driver-assistance system, BlueCruise, after it was found to be active during two recent crashes that killed multiple people.
