Warning: this article contains big spoilers for the season five premiere of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD.
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD returned to our screens last night (December 1) for its fifth season premiere, and, boy, did they have a big surprise in store.
The two-hour premiere saw Coulson and the others plunged into space, where they discover that Earth was blown up… and they're in the future.
With no clear way out, another big twist was dropped as it's discovered that it was Daisy that caused the destruction of the Earth. Yikes.
Opening up about the shock revelation, Daisy actress Chloe Bennet told TVLine: "I think that, at first, she doesn't believe it.
"She's just genuinely, 'No, I'm literally not powerful enough, I don't know what you're talking about.'"
However, the star explained that at the current moment (well, in the future at least) Daisy's focus is "that my friends are safe and that we get the f**k out of here".
"But I think the more that it comes up, as you'll see throughout the season, it's kind of made a thing. And it does end up kind of haunting her a little bit.
"It's yet another issue that she gets to have, because having eight dead boyfriends and a dead parent, and then a dad who's brainwashed and working as a vet in Indiana, and, you know, having almost died… that's not enough. Apparently."
Executive producer Jeffrey Bell added of the shocking twist: "We thought it was a pretty cool way to start the season, and a nice, 'I didn't see that coming,' hopefully.
"It's a way to put our team together, because they've been so fractured over the last season, and solve something together. Hopefully they'll leave the place a little better than when they found it!"
Agents of SHIELD airs on ABC in America and Channel 4 in the UK.
