Agent discusses Orlando Pirates interest in Chippa United star Thopola

Chippa United defender Diamond Thopola is reportedly on the radar of PSL giants Orlando Pirates.

The 27-year-old right-back has been linked with the Buccaneers, who are busy revamping their squad during the current July-August Transfer Window.

Recent reports have indicated that Bucs are eyeing Thopola as Thembela Sikhakhane's replacement at the club. The right-back recently joined AmaZulu FC on a season-long loan move from Bucs.

However, Thopola's agent, Francesco Ferreri of On The Ball Sports Management, claims to be in the dark regarding Pirates' interest in his client.

“No, Pirates have not contacted me and asked about Thopola.” Ferreri told Isolezwe.

“I know things are going to happen somewhat in the future," he continued.

“But the relationship I have with my players is so reassuring - that no player on our books can say nothing to me, if there's someone speaking to them privately,” he added.

Chippa, who are enjoying a good relationship with Pirates, recently completed the signing of two players from the Soweto giants - namely James Okwuosa and Brighton Mhlongo.

Thopola is a key defender player at Chippa having made 52 PSL appearances for the Chilli Boys since joining the club from Thanda Royal Zulu prior to the 2015/16 season.
