AG: Supervisor defrauds ambulance company of $10,000

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Attorney General Michelle Henry announced charges against a former supervisor for an ambulance company who allegedly gave herself and her daughter authorized raises.

According to the AG, an employee reported discrepancies with the payroll of the Hamlin Ambulance Company in September 2021, and the company contacted authorities.

Police stated that 50-year-old Nicole Price, of Wayne County, was an EMS supervisor, and captain for the Hamlin Ambulance Company who was the only person responsible for reporting hours to a third-party payroll company.

An investigation revealed Price allegedly inflated the hours worked for herself and her daughter, who was an ambulance driver. Nearly 1,000 hours of overtime was reported resulting in more than $8,400 in overpay for Price and her daughter, stated investigators.

The AG’s office reported Price also gave herself and her daughter unauthorized raises and paid herself for vacation time when the company does not offer paid vacation time. The unauthorized raises resulted in Price being paid an additional $617 and her daughter was paid $500, said officials.

Pennsylvania State Police charged Price with theft by deception, unlawful computer use, and record tampering. Price turned herself in and was arraigned on a $25,000 unsecured bail.

The Price family members were suspended from Hamlin Fire & Rescue and Ambulance.
