Afternoon fire damages north Abilene home; no one injured
An early Sunday afternoon fire caused $25,000 in damage to a north Abilene home.
Abilene firefighters were called just after 1 p.m. to a residential fire in the 1900 block of Merchant Street. Flames and smoke were seen coming from the attic.
The fire was extinguished but it caused heavy damage to the roof and attic.
The residents were home but evacuated safely, according to an Abilene Fire Department report.
The cause of the first has not been determined.
