Afghan police: at least 13 killed in Kabul attack

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Kabul's police chief says at least 13 people, including foreigners, have been killed and at least four wounded in a suicide attack against a popular restaurant in the Afghan capital.

Gen. Mohammad Zahir Zahir says the attack that started just after sunset Friday when a man wearing a suicide vest blew himself up outside the Taverna du Liban restaurant in central Kabul.

Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqi says security guards also killed two other attackers as they tried to enter the restaurant, which is popular with Afghan officials, foreign diplomats, aid workers and business people.
