AEW boss Tony Khan has explained the company's decision to move its All Out show from its traditional Labour Day weekend spot.

Last year, AEW held All In at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday, August 27, with All Out taking place in Chicago just a week later.

The plan had been for the events to take place a week apart again this year but AEW recently announced the All Out would now be held on Saturday, September 7.

Speaking to Digital Spy ahead of Double or Nothing, Khan explained: "It was really a great two-week period last year of back-to-back weekends with All In and All Out.

"There was a lot of feedback of, 'Hey, what about more time between the shows?' and they're both holiday weekends and I think there's a utility to both the weekends.

"Labor Day weekend has been really kind around Chicago to AEW. I wanted to continue putting AEW on in September and I wanted to give the fans in Chicago a great show and I was thinking how can I give them an even better show," he added.

"Coming off the stadium show, it's hard to come in and do anything the week after that but last year we did it and the show was fantastic and a lot of people thought All Out was the best event of the entire year."

While AEW managed to pull off what seemed the impossible with All Out so closely following All In last year, Khan agreed that more space between the shows would be helpful.

"One note people had was, if All Out had been a little bit further out we could have built things a little bit more and maybe people wouldn't have been so surprised at how great the show turned out to be... and I thought that made sense," he added.

Khan also noted that AEW had previously been the only wrestling company running a show on Labor Day weekend but they were no longer on their own.

This year WWE will be running Bash in Berlin on Saturday, August 31, the day before All Out's original date.

"We have the ability to have a major event at Wembley and continue the tradition of an early September wrestling pay-per-view for Chicago," Khan continued.

"[The decision] has been very well received people seem to think it was a good move and I really do like listening to the fan feedback."
