New aerial ladder put to the test by firefighters

Firefighters have tested new equipment designed to help them reach greater heights.

Jersey Fire and Rescue Service used its new aerial ladder near the tunnel in St Helier while roads were closed for Liberation Day on Thursday.

It said the Rosenbauer B45 had an "impressive working height" of 45m (147ft), allowing firefighters to "deliver water, get a better view of an incident and carry out rescues".

The apparatus is also equipped with both optical and thermal imaging cameras, the fire service said.
