SALUDA, N.C. (AP) — A new adventure tour in opening in the North Carolina mountains.
Green River Adventures gives visitors a grand tour of the Green River Gorge near Saluda through nine zip lines, two sky bridges and three rappels.
Co-owner Tim Bell says the tour takes about 2½ hours and heads down 1,100 feet into the gorge. The platforms for the descent are built into trees, and nine of them give stunning views of the gorge, including a look all the way over Lake Lure and to Grandfather Mountain on a clear day.
The zip line will be opened with a ceremony Friday that includes an 83-year-old woman taking a ride down the line.
