AdventHealth Thursday hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open its brand-new medical office building and ambulatory surgery center at its Daytona Beach campus.

The new facility cost $45.7 million — a 60,000-square-foot, three-story building that “is now home to a comprehensive array of medical specialties, including cardiac care, general surgery, orthopedics, women’s care, imaging, ENT, plastic surgery and more,” according to a hospital press release.

CEO and president of AdventHealth Daytona Beach David Weis said that expansion projects like this “are crucial to help us keep up with the growing needs of our community,” as Florida and Volusia County continue to see “fast growth.”

“In recent months, we’ve experienced a high volume of patients seeking care at our facilities,” Weis said in the press release. “This is a testament to the trust our community places in our team; it is a privilege and a responsibility we take seriously.”

What services are available at the new AdventHealth Daytona medical building?

The new building is a part of a partnership with Cardiology Physician’s Group and North Florida Surgeons, with both medical groups operating alongside.

  • The ground floor houses advanced cardiac rehabilitation, imaging services, and a surgical clinic dedicated to North Florida Surgeons.

  • The second floor includes a 20,000-square-foot cardiology clinic dedicated to Cardiology Physicians Group.

  • The third floor encompasses a 20,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center, tailored to serve both medical groups and other physician specialties.

Patients will be able to have non-invasive heart exams in one of three echo rooms operated by Cardiology Physicians Group on the second floor, according to Dinesh Arab, who serves as medical director of interventional cardiology at AdventHealth Daytona Beach.

“They can also undergo heart and vascular procedures such as cardiac catheterizations and have their pacemaker serviced, as well as receive cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, so they can get back to doing the activities they love,” Arab said in the press release.

The facility also features “state-of-the-art operating rooms, allowing physicians to perform a wide range of outpatient surgical procedures,” according to Mark White of North Florida Surgeons.

“Patients who do not need acute care or an overnight hospital stay will be able to have outpatient procedures performed here and then recover in the comfort of their own home,” White said in the press release. “This is not only more convenient, but it also gives lower-cost options to many patients without compromising high-quality care.”

Recently opened and future hospitals in the Daytona Beach area

The new medical building follows last August’s opening of the hospital’s second location in Palm Coast.

The  AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway campus is a 158,000-square-foot facility that houses a range of specialized services, including orthopedics, cardiology, surgical, urology, gynecology and gastrointestinal care.

The area’s other main health-care provider, Halifax Health, has plans to open a new ER and medical office buildings in Port Orange by the end of the year.

The project includes "a 7,000-square-foot medical office building, an 8,961-square-foot commercial multi-tenant building, and an 8,950-square-foot free-standing emergency room building (no overnight stays),” according to a recent report from Port Orange City Manager Wayne Clark.

Those facilities will be located at the northeast corner of Williamson Boulevard and Oakwater Lane, just outside the Ashton Lakes subdivision, according to the hospital.
