Adrian girls basketball caps regular season with win

ADRIAN — Adrian girls basketball had a great Senior Night, picking up its first win since December and second on the season with a 44-22 win against Robichau.

Akkya Campbell scored 14, Makenzie Johnson had 13 and Izzy Morris put up 11 for the Maples. Morris hit two 3-pointers and Johnson made eight free throws. The Maples held Robichaud to two points in the third quarter to pull away.

Adrian will take a 2-16 record into the Division 2 district next week at home.

Columbia Central 54, Hudson 12: At Hudson, the Lenawee County Athletic Association champion Golden Eagles had too much firepower inside for Hudson.

Zoie Bamm (6-foot-2-inches) and Tadessa Brown (6-3) combined for 35 points.

Hudson (10-9, 7-7 LCAA) was led by Dinah Horwath, who scored eight points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Madison 65, Sand Creek 44: At Sand Creek, the Trojans offense went off in the second in third quarters to get the Tri-County Conference victory.

Madison (10-8, 7-5 TCC) led 12-11 after the first, but took a 34-21 lead into the half and a 59-33 lead into the fourth.

Austin Burciaga led the Trojans with 16 points while Dylan Glase added 10 points. Xavier Powers filled up the stat sheet with seven points, five steals, three rebounds and three assists.

Trevor Opel led Sand Creek (1-18, 0-12 TCC) with 14 points while Rory Eack had 11 and Dylan Hague scored 10 for the Aggies.

Onsted 36, Dundee 21: At Onsted, Onsted’s five seniors went out with a perfect home court record this season as the Wildcats got past a Dundee team who looked to slow things down.

The Wildcats play Thursday at Hillsdale when they attempt to finish the regular season 20-0.

Dayton Henagan scored 12 points while Ayden Davis and Ayden Pauquin both scored seven points for Onsted. Davis added 10 blocks to his game, giving him 121 on the season, breaking his brother Austin Davis' Onsted single-season record of 117.

Britton Deerfield 58, Summerfield 46: At Britton, the Patriots came out on top of this TCC battle between two teams entered in the same Division 4 district.

Logan Shiels had an outstanding game with 23 points and 15 rebounds while Noah McRobert and Nico Johnson scored 11 points each.

Summerfield lost its top scorer, Roman Iott, with 1:58 left in the first half due to a sprained ankle.

Monroe SMCC 63, Lenawee Christian 60, OT: At Monroe, the Cougars led 30-27 at the half and 43-34 going into the fourth where the Falcons outscored them 20-11 to force overtime where they got the win.

Tyler VanEtten put up 25 points for LCS (7-12), including six 3-pointers, but it wasn't enough to get the Cougars the road win.

Tristan Beagle chipped in with 12 points while Elliott Addleman added 10.

The Cougars JV team fell, 34-27.

Columbia Central 60, Blissfield 58: At Blissfield, the Royals and Golden Eagles went back and forth with Blissfield falling in the LCAA matchup.

Blissfield (8-10, 5-9 LCAA) led 20-15 with Owen Smith scoring nine of his 28 points before the Royals took a 33-32 lead into the half.

Columbia Central took a 44-41 lead into the fourth. Smith added two steals and an assist to his day while Nick Ostas had 10 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and a block.

Hillsdale 63, Clinton 58: At Clinton, the Redwolves made eight more field goals than Hillsdale did but the Hornets made 21 of 33 free throws for the win.

Jack Bowles scored 31 points for Hillsdale (7-10), who is coached by longtime area coach Marc Comstock.

Grant Stockford poured in 24 points, Ryan Tschirhart had 14 and Landon Busz put up 10 to lead Clinton (9-8, 6-7 LCAA).

Clinton plays Tuesday at Ann Arbor Central Academy.

Ida 53, Hudson 44: At Hudson, the Tigers matched Ida’s eight 3-poitners but dropped the LCAA contest.

Ambrose Horwath scored 11 for the Tigers and Easten Strodtman finished with eight points.

Hudson fell to 6-12 overall and 3-10 in the LCAA.
