Add a Bright and Colorful Splash to Your Thanksgiving Table

Looking to spruce up your holiday table but not that into the traditional autumnal color scheme? We hear you and so does Megan Martin Creative. She gave faux pumpkins a colorful makeover and the result will add a bold and stylish statement to your thanksgiving tablescape. It's as easy as spray paint and voila! Grab the simple steps below.

Welcome to our bright and colorful Thanksgiving Dining Room! We live in sunny Florida and love color against a backdrop of crisp white. So when it came to decorating for the Thanksgiving season, the traditional orange and red just wouldn’t fit with our sunny mix of home colors in white, gold, navy, pink, blue, and green. What’s a girl to do? Improvise!

With a quick trip to the store for some faux pumpkins and paint in our home palette and an afternoon of crafting with our two daughters under 5, we created our own unique statement colorful Thanksgiving dining room centerpiece with a modern touch of color blocking and gold accents.

This project was sincerely SO easy! We laid pumpkins out on a canvas tarp and spray painted them in various colors. We then took gold acrylic paint and hand painted the stems gold. Once dried, we stacked them together and our table instantly felt festive and ready to celebrate with family and friends!

DIY Colorblock Painted Pumpkins

Gather an assortment of real or faux pumpkins. We purchased 40 faux pumpkins from Hobby Lobby in various sizes and shapes. We chose faux so we can easily recreate the look next year!

Get various spray paint cans in the colors of your choice and a bottle of gold acrylic paint for the pumpkin stems.

Separate your pumpkins in no particular order. This is key for an effortless look! You don’t need to have the same number or shapes of pumpkins for each color. A little variation in size and quantity for each color block is a good thing!

Spray Paint your pumpkins. One coat worked well! Tip: Wear gloves as you’ll need to pick them up to get them all covered nicely!

Once the spray paint is dry, use a brush and hand paint your pumpkin stems with gold acrylic paint.

Once all the paint is dry, arrange your pumpkins on your table and enjoy your colorful masterpiece on Thanksgiving day!
