Adam Levine and James Corden get pulled over during Carpool Karaoke

Adam Levine joined James Corden on The Late Late Show for some Carpool Karaoke on Thursday night. The guys sang some of Maroon 5‘s biggest hits, including “Moves Like Jagger” and “Sugar,” while driving around Los Angeles. But they ran into some issues when a Los Angeles County sheriff pulled up beside them and sounded his siren.

Corden rolled down the passenger side window to find out what the sheriff wanted. He told them, “I want to pull you over so he can sing a song for me … because you caused a traffic hazard.” So Corden slowly pulled over, hoping not to get a ticket for driving under the influence of Adam’s beautiful voice. Once they were on the side of the road, the sheriff pulled up —to the driver’s side this time — and told them, “Just be careful.” Levine said, “We’re sorry officer, it’ll never happen again.”

The sheriff laughed and went on his way, but Corden was still a little shaken. “I don’t know what quite happened there. I completely panicked,” Corden said before asking Levine, “How are you so chill? A sheriff just pulled us over. I panicked in my absolute core.”

The Late Late Show With James Corden airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. on CBS.
