Actress Jenna Ortega's jacket message one-ups Melania Trump on Radio Disney red carpet
Well, Melania Trump has gotten her answer.
The first lady asked the question, “I really don’t care, do u?” on Thursday, when she wore a jacket emblazoned with that message during a visit to a facility holding immigrant children who had been separated from their parents. While a number of celebrities expressed their displeasure with Trump’s wardrobe choice on social media, Jenna Ortega took another route.
The 15-year-old star of Disney’s Stuck in the Middle wore a jacket with her response to Trump’s message Friday on the red carpet for the Radio Disney Music Awards. It read, “I do care and u should too.” In case it wasn’t clear to everyone what Ortega meant by the jacket, she shared a picture of it with this caption, “Dear @flotus.”
There was some confusion about the meaning of the first lady’s jacket. First, her communications director said there was no hidden message in Trump’s look. Then, President Trump said something completely different in a tweet. He said it was a message to the media.
“I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!

There are no questions here about the meaning of Ortega’s message.
The actress, who also played young Jane on Jane the Virgin, explained her personal connection to the issue of immigration in a 2016 essay for PopSugar Latina headlined “Jenna Ortega: ‘I Am Extremely Proud of Where I Come From.’” In it, she said that her ancestors had been born in Mexico and Puerto Pico.
“My greatgrandma on my mother’s side migrated from a small ranch near Sinaloa, Mexico,” Ortega wrote. “She came to the United States as an illegal immigrant in hopes to make a better life for her four daughters. She wanted them to speak perfect English, so that they would not draw attention and be deported, so they went to English speaking schools and were only allowed to speak English to her, so she could learn the language while trying to get her papers.”
Ortega has also spoken out on immigration issues before.
