Ace Hardware relocating to Appleseed Shopping Center in April. Guess which day?
Ace Hardware is moving across Lexington Avenue into the Appleseed Shopping Center near Ollie's Discount Warehouse and celebrating its reopening on Ohio's solar Eclipse Day.
It's a date that the store's customers won't easily forget.
Anyone who wants to view the eclipse should be sure to get the right glasses ahead of time. The afternoon sky will go dark for nearly 4 minutes April 8, a Monday, when the moon passes between the sun and Earth.
Ace Hardware Assistant Manager Ben Stover on Tuesday said the new store will be 2½ times larger at 17,000 square feet. Store personnel have already been moving items from the existing store at Ace Hardware Plaza, 1515 Lexington Ave., to the new location, which will also allow for more parking, Stover added. The new location will have some new vendors, too.
During Tuesday's Mansfield Planning Commission meeting, Superior Energy Systems representatives requested the board approve a 1,600-gallon propane storage tank to be placed in the shopping center for Ace Hardware to use for customers' forklifts and barbecue grill tanks.
The board gave its nod of approval.

The Mansfield Fire Department through a codified ordinance requires that any tank install greater than 1,000 gallons first seek approval from the planning commission before install.
The tank will be installed within the front parking lot, 100 feet from the front of the Ace Hardware building, according to the commission. Bollards will be installed around the perimeter of the tank.
Stover said Ace Hardware uses propane for its forklifts so the new propane storage tank will be convenient.
